John H. Palmer
Founder and owner
John began his 25-year career in the editorial business as a newspaper journalist in his native Connecticut before moving to Boston in 2012. He started fresh out of college as a weekly newspaper reporter and cut his teeth covering news, politics, police, and even a visit from a waterskiing squirrel. He went on to work in the newsrooms of several busy daily newspapers, and developed a love for detailed storytelling, focusing on the lives and diverse tales that all people have to offer.
John also holds a master's degree as an elementary school teacher and spent 10 years working with and tutoring students of various ages and backgrounds, including multilingual students and students with special needs. He worked closely as a writing coach with these students, helping them achieve improved results on mastery tests while giving them increased confidence in their abilities.
Moving on to the business arena later in his career, John worked as an editor-in-chief for several newspapers and magazines in the Boston area, including stints as a managing editor for a healthcare publishing company and a technology software firm. He's used his background in broadcast journalism as a webinar moderator, voice-over specialist, and podcast narrator.
Ashley Varese
JOURNALIST, EDITOR, AND CONTENT WRITER
Ashley is a freelance journalist based on Florida’s east coast. She started her career straight out of college as a daily newspaper reporter in her native Connecticut and moved up the ranks to editor-in-chief. Somewhere in between, she attended law school in Boston, but every time she saw a police car or news van drive by, she found herself longing for the newsroom. So she traded law school for a master’s degree in journalism from Northeastern University and never looked back. While there, she snagged an internship with the Boston Red Sox which turned into a seasonal job for the next few years. She spent her days writing feature stories in Plymouth, Massachusetts, and nights behind the camera at Fenway Park, filming the crowd for the Jumbotron. Her career took her to New Hampshire and eventually back to Connecticut, where she spent six years as the editor-in-chief of two award-winning papers. She made the move to Florida in 2014 after accepting an editor position on the Gulf Coast. Today, in addition to journalism, she focuses on web content, copy editing and ghostwriting.
