Coaching & Tutoring
Our founder, John Palmer, has worked as a professional journalist and editor for more than 20 years. In addition, he spent 10 years as a classroom teacher in Connecticut, teaching and tutoring writing to students of all ages and backgrounds ranging from second graders to adults of multilingual backgrounds and special needs. Many of the coaches on our staff have more than 30 years experience writing, editing, and perfecting manuscripts of every length and genre, and are available to help you craft the perfect manuscript. Coaching and tutoring services are available for one-on-one or group settings, and sessions can be bundled to form a writing program tailored to your needs. We will be happy to travel to your setting within the Greater Boston area, and packages are available to make our services available and affordable to everyone.
Literary Coaching
Sometimes what you need is a good writing coach, either to help you along with your own writing skills or to give your employees a lesson in good grammar and punctuation to help cut down on errors in company correspondence.
Whether you are working on a dissertation, a novel, or a nonfiction magazine article, our professional writing coaches can offer support for your writing needs, whether you are just starting out or have a draft completed. We can help you push through the dreaded writer’s block or help you with line edits that enhance the organization of your manuscript.
In addition, our coaches will also provide a line-by-line edit of your work to help you craft a perfect finished product. We can meet our clients in person or via Skype, phone call, or email from between twice a week to once a month depending on your requirements. The frequency and arrangement of coaching sessions are tailored to each writer’s requirements.
Coaches are available for one-on-one consultation or tutoring with students of any age, and can travel to libraries, academic institutions and companies or for group classes covering many topics ranging from properly sourcing news stories and properly writing responses to prompts on school mastery tests, to marketing content for business websites. We can also hold classes at our downtown Boston location at 399 Boylston Street.
Note: Fees listed are for individual students. Group fees are negotiable depending on location, content, and audience size. Please contact us for more than one student.
Coaching sessions may be bundled and developed into a writing program at a reduced fee.
Tutoring and Mastery Test Preparation
Students of all ages are being constantly assessed by state-mandated mastery tests that measure their abilities to write clearly and coherently. They measure the student's ability to write persuasive, expository, narrative, and analytical essays, oftentimes based on reading passages that are given to them.
While certainly not the most pleasant of school-age experiences, these tests are required, and we can help make the experience a little less painful. Teachers only have so much time in the classroom to get students achieving to grade level on the writing prompts that students face on these tests. We can be that extra resource that helps test takers relax, break down the question or prompt that is before them, and craft a proper essay that will not only answer the question completely but also add details that will get them the extra points on the writing assessment.
We can hold sessions at your home, a library or business, or in our downtown Boston location at 399 Boylston Street.
Note: We also have math and science tutors available as needed. Please inquire if interested. Fees listed are for individual students. Group fees are negotiable depending on location, content, and audience size. Please contact us for more than one student.
